MARSHALL, Ill. —
MARSHALL, Ill. — Harold R. Hamilton, 92, of Marshall, entered into the gates of heaven at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. He was born March 12, 1921, in Terre Haute, the son of William and Elsie Baggs Hamilton. He married Rosa Mae Spittler on Dec. 26, 1941. He was retired from Clark County Culvert of Marshall.
Surviving are his wife; his children, Gene Hamilton of Paris, Ill., and Sharon (Jerry) Raisner of Marshall; four grandchildren, Ben (Yola) Taylor, Eric (Monica) Hamilton, Chad Hamilton, and Jason (Tyra) Raisner; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Nuno; and his faithful companion, Mopsey. He was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Hamilton; two brothers who died in infancy; and a sister, Norma Evola.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Marshall and was an avid reader. One of his favorite times of the year was Christmas and he loved to play Santa Claus for his grandchildren and others.
He honorably served this nation in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Marshall Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975.
Services in honor of his life will be 1:30 p.m. CDT Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., in Marshall, with Brother John Cutshall officiating. Burial will be in Marshall Cemetery with military graveside services in honor of his service to this country accorded by VFW Post 5975 and Clark County Post 90 of the American Legion.
