Joan M. Lear


ROCKVILLE — Joan M. Lear, 80, of Rockville, died at 6:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, in The Waters of Greencastle, in Greencastle. She was a homemaker and retired from the Parke County Clerk’s Office. She was born Dec. 30, 1932, in Parke County, to the late Jessie Brown and Lucinda “Lucille” Conner Brown. Her husband of 43 years, Wayne Lear, whom she married July 24, 1955, died Feb. 19, 1998.  

Survivors include three sons, Steven J. (Stephanie) Lear of Rockville, Mark (Melody) Lear of Terre Haute, and James A. Lear of Rockville; two daughters, Barbara (Jon) Payne, and Karen (Mark) Eldridge, all of Rockville; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  

She was a graduate of Bloomingdale High School. She was a member of the Rockville Christian Church and the Friendship Sunday school class. She was an avid sports fan.  

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, in Gooch Funeral Home at 112 W. Howard St., with the Rev. Patrick J. Fahey officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery.
