Danna Ruth Leonard

BLOOMINGDALE — Danna Ruth Leonard, 86, of Bloomingdale, Ind., died Friday, March 28, 2014, in her residence. She was a hairdresser and retired from Child Adult Resource Services at Rockville. She was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Bloomingdale, Ind., to the late Dan Van Voorhees and Ruth Van Voorhees.

Her father died in May of 1927, just months before she was born. Her husband of 60 years, Walter E. Leonard, whom she married Jan. 12, 1946, in Bloomingdale, died Aug. 15, 2006.

Survivors include two sons, Dan (Janet) Leonard of Bloomingdale and David (Cynthia) Leonard of Crawfordsville; one daughter, Julia Bigger of Bloomingdale; one sister, Eva Lou Bartlow of Montezuma; one brother-in-law, Edward Pfeifer of Montezuma; grandchildren, Phillip (Alisha) Leonard of Rockville, Beth Leonard of Noblesville, Scott (fiancée Tami) Bigger of Bloomingdale, Joseph (Ashley) Leonard of Rockville, Lori (Jeremy) Swaim of Rockville, Sara Bigger of Nashville, Tenn., Josh Leonard of Williamsport and Mace (Jennifer) Leonard of Noblesville; and great-grandchildren, Trenton Leonard, Haley and Sydney Bigger, Teagan and Mylah Leonard, and Stromi and Whitney Swam.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert Davies; and sister, Sue Pfeifer.

She was a member of the Bloomingdale Friends Meeting Church and Nyesville Full Gospel Fellowship Church. She enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She will be sorely missed.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, in Bloomingdale Friends Meeting Church, 64 Academy St. West, Bloomingdale, with Pastor Gene Walls and the Rev. Kathy Luethje officiating. Burial will follow in Bloomingdale Friends Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., Rockville, and one hour before services at the church. Memorials, should friends so desire, may be made to the Nyesville Full Gospel Fellowship, 506 W. Ohio St., Rockville, IN 47872, in her memory. Friends may sign an online guest register at:
