WEST TERRE HAUTE —
Virginia Rose Wardle, 68, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 11:38 a.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014, in her home with family by her side. She was born Feb. 27, 1946, in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, to Daniel Franklin McKinney and Myrtle Willis McKinney.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Wardle Sr., whom she married June 26, 1965, in the St. Mary-of-the-Woods Village Catholic Church; two daughters, Sarah Mitchell and husband Rick of Reelsville, and Shelly Goodwin and husband Andy of Paris, Ill.; a nephew, whom she considered a son, Steve McKinney and wife Kristie of St. Mary-of-the-Woods; two sisters, Ruth Margaret McKinney and Bessie Munds, both of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Daniel McKinney and wife Sharon of Terre Haute; six grandchildren, Jeremy Wardle, Andrea Wardle, Travis Mitchell, Tegan Goodwin, Zoey Goodwin, and Jadelynn Goodwin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Wardle Jr.; her parents; and three brothers, Donald McKinney, Cecil Tackett and Charlie Tackett.
She was a good mom, a loving wife, and she loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Funeral services for Virginia will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Bob Roush officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday. The family kindly suggests that in lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities Food Bank, with envelopes available in the funeral home.
