Mary Jane (Morris) Hannah


FRANKLIN — Mary Jane (Morris) Hannah, 88, of Franklin, Ind., passed away March 22, 2014, at the Franklin United Methodist Community. Mary Jane was born Feb. 6, 1926, in Clay County, Ind., the only child of William and Lucia (Umpleby) Morris. Mary Jane graduated from Van Buren High School and later Indiana State Teachers College with a degree in music education. Mary Jane taught music at Van Buren High School for a short period of time before marrying James M. Hannah and raising a family.

She was a former member of the Clinton United Methodist, Santa Claus United Methodist and the Whiteland United Methodist Churches, where she served as the church organist and sang in the church choir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her, husband, James Hannah, in 2010.

She is survived by her three sons, J. Morris Hannah and wife Sue of Tennessee, William J. Hannah and wife Joyce of Mooresville, and Kevin Hannah and wife Lynn of Alabama; four grandchildren, Myra, Nick, James, and Kaitlin; as well as several great-grandchildren.

Services will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., in Brazil, Friday, March 28, 2014, at 12 noon. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of services. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. To light a candle in her memory, visit:
