TERRE HAUTE —
Nancy Jane Weger Shaffer, 65, of Terre Haute, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Sunday, March 9, 2014. She was formerly a technician with Glas-Col Apparatus Company, in Terre Haute, for 17 years, and also worked for LWB Laundry in Terre Haute. She was born Jan. 23, 1949, in Terre Haute, to George K. Weger and Grace Buchanan Weger.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracey Shaffer, and Garrie Pond and husband Travis, all of Terre Haute; two brothers, Chuck Weger and wife Mary of Terre Haute, and Steve Weger and wife Trena of West Terre Haute; three sisters, Mildred “Bee” Taylor and companion Jack Cooper, and Darlene “Susie” Elder, all of Terre Haute and Virginia James of West Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Cody Pond, Gunnar Shaffer, Chrisitian Thompson, Jacob Pond, Pressely Burk, Kia Pond, and E.C. Burk; one great-grandchild, Braydn Pond; and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ethel Cooper and Margaret “Yank” Cooper; and four brothers, Kenneth Weger, Donald “Pete” Weger, Robert “Bob” Weger Sr., and David Weger.
Nancy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking around, and she also enjoyed dancing. She was a great lady, mom, and grandma.
Funeral services for Nancy will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St. in West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Chris McKinney officiating. Cremation has been scheduled after all services. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday. The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Nancy Shaffer Memorial Fund to assist with expenses with envelopes available.
