William Robert Radez Sr., 88, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2014. Bill was born in Indianapolis on July 20, 1925, to John and Mary Louise (Cirja) Radez, both preceding him in death. Bill also was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Carl and John; sisters, Margaret, Stephie and Frances.
He was a graduate from Washington High School. He entered the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served from 1951–1953 and was honorably discharged earning the rank of corporal.
Bill became a tool and die maker for PR Mallory; Switzer Corporation and retired from the USPS. Bill could be seen working security at turn one short shoot at the Indianapolis 500 during the month of May from 1990–1997, and was an usher during the Indianapolis Colts games from 1992–1996 at the Hoosier/RCA Dome.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, John (Tammy), and William Jr. (Lisa); sister, Rose Hickman; granddaughters, Samantha bringing him great-granddaughter, Heidi; grandsons, Walker and Joey; and other family and friends.
William Sr. dearly loved his wife, Bev’s family beginning with her mom and dad, Maud and Toufaike Kaleel Nasser and their only son, Dr. William K. Nasser and his family.
He also loved her sister, Delores (Dee) Polifroni and her husband, Tony Polifroni, a good policeman and detective.
He loved his Nasser cousins: Skander and Helen, Bob and Joan, and Louie and Salwa, and all of their children. William Sr.’s family also thank his cousin, Zianna Alley, for all her thoughtfulness to his sons, their wives and Dee Polifroni during their surgeries and the deaths of Lisa Radez’s dad, Wendell Oxley and Tammy Radez’s dad, Gerald Sullivan.
The family wishes to thank the Veterans’ Administration Hospital Indianapolis for their professional services and the VA CLC in Danville, Ill., where his wonderful physician, Dr. Elliott, and his angel nurses gave wonderful care to Bill Sr. We also thank all the staff at the WILL Center for their kindness to him!
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 901 N. Holmes Ave., Indianapolis, with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of mass Friday.
