Carolyn Sue Meneely Hill, 72, of Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Union Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 1, 1941 in New Goshen, to Edward Meneely and Deloris Bemis Meneely.
She was a 1959 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. After graduation, she moved to Chicago, where she was married. While living in Chicago, she worked as a personal assistant while raising three boys. She later moved to Arizona, working in a real estate office as a switchboard operator for several years. Carolyn later moved to Pensacola, Fla., and owned a bar where her oldest son played the drums in a band. Carolyn and her husband retired, returned to Terre Haute and enjoyed attending flea markets and going to auctions. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, being an artist and especially enjoyed painting. She loved her pug dogs, Dolly and Toby. No matter how busy Carolyn was, she always had time every summer for her four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Carl Hill, who passed away Nov. 25, 2012; her father, Edward Meneely; her father-in-law, Richard Hill; her mother-in-law, Mazzie Hill; and her twin sister, Marilyn Brown.
Carolyn is survived by her mother, Deloris Meneely of Terre Haute; three sons, Richard E. Hill, Carl A. Hill and Darrell A. Hill; four grandchildren, Ricky Hill II, Nicole Hill, Kim Hill and Chris Hill; and one great-granddaughter, Mya Kearschner; several cousins, nieces, nephews and aunts. She is also survived by longtime school friend, Carla Stogsdill, and special friends, Mary Newman, Leslie Kunz, Becky, Debbie and many more friends.
As per Carolyn’s wish, cremation has been chosen with no service. Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences can be made at:
