Virginia Johnson Kiser

PARIS, Ill. — Virginia Johnson Kiser, 95, of Paris, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Twin Lakes Rehab & Health Care in Paris. She was retired after over 54 years as a self-employed beautician and was the former owner and operator of Virginia's Yankee Clipper Beauty Salon in Paris. She was born May 13, 1917, in Paris, the daughter of the late James M. Johnson and Eva (Miles) Johnson. She married Howard L. Kiser on March 24, 1946, in Paris.

In addition to her husband of 67 years, she is survived by three grandsons, Howard Paul Kiser III, Nathan James (Carrie) Kiser, and Andrew Jairus Kiser (Crystal Wells); six great-grandchildren, Alexis, Lauren, Gavin, Piper, Jairus, and Jonathan Kiser; and a daughter-in-law, Sonna Kiser (Richard) Lucas, all of Villa Grove, Ill. She was preceded in death by a son, Howard J. Kiser II; a brother; and a sister.

Mrs. Kiser was a member of Horace Baptist Church. She was a 50-year member of American Legion Post 211 Auxiliary, a member of Order of the Amaranth, Daughters of the Nile and White Shrine. Her keen mind for business was apparent from an early age, opening her first salon on West Court Street, in Paris, at age 16 and growing her business into multiple successful locations. She traveled extensively with her husband throughout her adult life, and enjoyed taking trips throughout the world. Above all else, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Services celebrating her life will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. CDT Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris. Burial will follow in Edgar Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. An American Legion Auxiliary memorial service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to Horace Baptist Church. Additional Information and online condolences at:
