Betty J. Elliott

PARIS, Ill. — Betty J. Elliott, 85, of rural Paris, passed away at 9:15 p.m. EST Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Meadow Lakes Assisted Living in Mooresville, Ind., where she had lived for almost two years. She was born July 1, 1928, to Hiram Holly and Theo Bernadine (Cochran) Anderson, in Sullivan County, Ind., a few miles east of Merom. She lived on South Main Street in Sullivan for most of her childhood. Betty and H. Graham Elliott were married Dec. 30, 1948, in Sullivan, Ind. They were married for 58 years until his death on June 11, 2007.

Betty was an active member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, where she served on several committees, was treasurer, and elder. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, camping, traveling, cooking and sewing. She especially enjoyed planning and hosting family dinners, and was well known for her delicious yeast rolls and noodles.

Survivors include three sons, Larry James Elliott and his wife Carolynn of Batavia, Ohio, Dale Graham Elliott and his wife Pamela of Paris, and Phillip Brent Elliott and his wife Andrea of Martinsville, Ind.; six grandchildren, Christian Elliott and his wife Emily of Bexley, Ohio, Ryan Elliott of Indianapolis, Summer Rackley and her husband Billy of Cincinnati, Levi Elliott and his wife Tammy of Fishers, Ind., Cory Elliott and his wife Shelley of Kennesaw, Ga., and Betsy Wells and her husband Ryan of Paris; six great-grandchildren, Brayden Rackley, Sydney Elliott, Morgan Elliott, Liam Wells, Mia Elliott, Henry Elliott and Chloe Wells; one sister, Ruth Golish and her husband John of Sullivan; a sister-in-law, Juanita Elliott Hill and brother-in-law Jack Hill of Vincennes, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Stella Lorene Lowery; brothers, Bobby Lee and Charles Edward (Bud) Anderson; a half brother, Clyde Anderson; and a half sister, Lettie Anderson Warren McKibben of Ohio.

Services will be at 2 p.m. CST Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home, 303 E. Wood St., in Paris. Cremation is scheduled following the service.  Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. in the funeral home, prior to the service.
