TERRE HAUTE —
Lawrence Edward Earls Sr., 77, passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013.
He was born Nov. 30, 1935, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Margaret and Jess Earls.
Lawrence had a car club, “Piston Cruisers,” in Terre Haute, and had a Hot Rod Body Shop on Maple Avenue in Terre Haute.
Lawrence worked at Twiggs Airplane Plant and Midland Glass Company. He also worked at Home Packing until an explosion destroyed the factory. He also worked for Newlin Construction and the Vigo County Highway Department, and was a labor foreman for the Marion Sewage Plant. Lawrence was a veteran of the Korean War from 1951 to 1955, in a fire fighter crash crew. He was also a member of the American Legion Krietenstein Post 104.
He lived in Florida for 20 years, and then he returned to Terre Haute.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores Elaine (Ives) Earls; two daughters, Cheryl E. Hensley of Terre Haute; and Theresa E. Kamp of North Port, Fla.; a son, Lawrence E. Earls Jr. of Brazil, Ind.; a sister, Roberta Sebastain of Seelyville; a son-in-law, Tim Hensley of Terre Haute; and three grandsons, Alex and Cory Kamp of North Port, Fla.; and Matthew Hensley of Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Jess Earls; a sister, Louanna Brown; a brother, Raymond Earls; and two grandsons, Michael Birch and Brian Hensley.
He had several friends who will miss him, from several car clubs.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Roselawn Funeral Home, with military honors by American Legion Krietenstein Post 104.
