MEROM — Robert Wayne “Bob” Thompson, 54, of Merom, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 5, 2013, at IU Medical Center, in Indianapolis. Bob was born in Sullivan County on May 13, 1959, to Bruce and Nancy L. Monroe Thompson. He was a 1977 graduate of Sullivan High School, had worked for and was a member of the Operating Engineers’ Local 841 for many years, was a licensed minister, member of the Southwest Indiana walk of Emmaus, and was a member of the Followers of Christ Baptist Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy; and a nephew, Casey Drake.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Marla Gadberry Thompson, whom he married Dec. 9, 1977; his father, Bruce Thompson; a son, Josh Thompson of Merom; a daughter, Ashlee Thompson and her fiancé Kris DeMyer of Merom, a sister, Angie Wilson and husband Larry of Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at the Followers of Christ Baptist Church, 2766 E. Indiana 58, just 3 miles outside of Carlisle, on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Glenn Archer officiating. Visitation will be at Holmes Memorial Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Merom Cemetery.
