Esther L. McBride, of Terre Haute, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Union Hospital. She was born on Nov. 23, 1925, to Virgil and Goldie Spice, in Vigo county. She was a retired steam presser for Trimpe Cleaners.
She is survived by two sisters, Barbra Baker and Joann Duncan; one brother, Jack Spice; five children, Judy Lehrfeld of Virginia, Linda and Mike Murphy of Indiana, Connie Sons and Fred Light of Indiana, Geary and Terry McBride of Florida, and Debbie and Mike Lockridge of Indiana; and 17 grandchildren, James Dixon, Valaisa Russell and family, Tommy Bennett and family, Toni Bennett and family, Kenny and Tracy Murphy and family, Cindy and Chad Dickerson and family, Mike Murphy II, Katie and Aaron Clover and family, Megan Murphy, Kim Lawson and family, Kristie and Greg Uselman and family, Fred and Monica Light and family, Scott Light and family, Michael McBride, Shawna McBride, Heather and David Cassady and family, and Adam Moseman and family. She has 25 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded her in death her husband, James McBride; three sons, Robert, Jimmy, and Billy McBride; her parents, Virgil and Goldie Spice; great-grandson, Allen Rankin; great-great-grandson, Brennan Floyd; her brother, Wayne Spice; two sisters, Marry Lou Bailey and Betty Russell; and several nieces and nephews.
Family has requested no visitation. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home will be handling the cremation. Special thanks to I.C.U. Unit Nursing Staff and Fourth floor nursing staff at Union Hospital for the excellent care and compassion shown to Esther McBride and family members.
