TERRE HAUTE —
Ronald E. Bronnert, 70, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, in Union Hospital. Ron was born Feb. 24, 1943, in Terre Haute, to Eugene J. Bronnert and Saphronia Berry Bronnert. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
He was retired from CSX Railroad, formerly known as Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central and Conrail, as a conductor. Ron was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany. He was a member of Krietenstein American Legion Post 104, a 1961 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School, and enjoyed playing golf. Ron loved spending time with his family and especially enjoying his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Larry Wayne Bronnert. He is survived by his wife, Lois Mattox Bronnert, whom he married Aug. 7, 1965. He is also survived by two daughters, Lori Hall and her husband Randel of Franklin, Ohio, and Krista Bauer and her husband Karl of Florence, Ky., four grandchildren, Nathan Bauer, Nicholas Bauer, Hannah Hall, and Peyton Hall; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Kenneth Thomas of Evansville; two nephews, Greg Thomas of Indianapolis and Andy Thomas and his fiancee, Brenda of Nashville, Tenn.; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Father Bernard La Montagne will be officiating. Krietenstein American Legion Post 104 will conduct military graveside services. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
