Patsy Jewell Volk, 81, of Sullivan, passed away with her family at her side at Breckenridge Health & Rehab on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013. She was born Aug. 25, 1931, in Pleasantville, to Sheldon and Sara Abrams Montgomery. She was a nurse at Miller’s Merry Manor for 13 years, and retired from Mary Sherman Hospital.
Patsy graduated from Carlisle High School in 1949, and was a graduate of Ivy Tech School of Nursing.
Patsy is survived by daughters, Cathy Roberts (Bob) of Sullivan and Cynthia Christie (Michael) of Dover, N.H.; grandchildren, Michael Christie, Holly Banfield, and Jeremy and Andrew Roberts; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Corbin and Caden Christie, Reagan and Mackenzie Banfield, and Nicholas, Jessie and Bryson Roberts.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, charter member of Beta Sigma Phi, and Sullivan Moose Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 39 years, Eugene “Pokey” Volk in 1989; brothers, Chester, Gerthel, Dean, and Bob Montgomery; and sisters, Phyllis Falconbury and Joyce Grass.
Services will be Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 10 a.m. in Holmes Memorial Chapel, in Sullivan, with Father Frank Renner officiating. Visitation today, Feb. 22, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan.
