Phyllis Irene Thomley, 98, of Hymera, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, May, 16, 2013 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Jasonville.
She was born Feb. 21, 1915 in Hymera to Clifford E. Mahan and Ida Mae (McMillen) Mahan.
Phyllis married Crettis Woodrow Thomley on Oct. 16, 1938, and he passed away on Aug. 12, 1963.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Terry and Donna Thomley of Naples, Fla., Michael ”Mick” Thomley of Bookings, Ore.; niece and nephew, Elaine and Chic Hudson of Jasonville; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, George Mahan; and sisters, Louise Chapman, Corine Mahan, Virginia Fougerousse and Pat Young.
Phyllis worked in civil service as a secretary for 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Hymera Bethel United Methodist Church. She was church organist for 30 years and enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 S. Meridian St., Jasonville. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cox funeral home, with pastor Norman Santus officiating. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery in Hymera.
