TERRE HAUTE —
Paul Eugene Collins, 68, of Terre Haute passed away at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. He retired from Ulrich Chemical Company in Terre Haute after many years as an otr truck driver. He was born Dec. 16, 1944 in Terre Haute to Jonathan E. and Lucille Collins.
His wife, Marjorie Collins, who he married on Dec. 8, 1965, preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2013.
Survivors include three sons, Paul E. “Skip” Collins Jr. and his wife, Jayne-Ani, Tony Bradford Collins and his wife, Amy, and Kevin Lee Collins and his wife, April, all of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Joshua Stephen Collins, Kayla Jane Collins, Tony Bradford “Brad” Collins Jr., Taylor Levi Collins, Keegan Lee Collins, Zachary Eugene Collins and Gaige Ethan Collins; his step-mother, Arselia “Gene” Baird Collins; six brothers, Ralph Collins (Linda), and Stanley Collins (Sue) all of Crawfordsville, Duane Collins (Debbie) of Covington, Harold Dean Collins (Betsy) of Casey, Ill., Otto Collins (Donna) of Indianola, and Ernie Smith (Jackie) of Terre Haute; four sisters, Jeanette Anderson (George) of Danville, Ill., Bethe Collins of Centralia, Ill., Carol Johnson of Walnut Hill, Ill., and Karla Stewart (John) of West Frankfort, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Darrell Cunningham of Covington; a sister-in-law, Shirley Collins of Crawfordsville; several aunts and uncles; and many of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Paul was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Anne Collins; his parents, three brothers, Robert E. Lee Collins, Fred Collins and James Frederick Collins; and four sisters, Naomi Collins, Nancy Mehwinney, Mary Griffin and Lois Cunningham.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 972 in Terre Haute. Paul enjoyed restoring old tractors and attending shows with his brothers. He also enjoyed tinkering with old cars and motors.
Funeral services for Paul will be at noon on Satuday, May 18, 2013 in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., West Terre Haute, with Pastor Billy Henry officiating and military rites by the V.F.W. Post 972. Cremation has been scheduled after all services. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 17, and before services on Saturday.
