Gladys Helton Albright

TERRE HAUTE — Gladys Helton Albright, 96, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, with her family by her side. She was one of 12 children, born Oct. 19, 1916, in Bloomington, Ind., to Ezra Helton and Bertha Mae (Shaw) Helton. She married Claudys P. Albright on April 11, 1936. Together they owned and operated Albright’s Restaurant, which is now Bev’s Restaurant on South 25th Street in Terre Haute.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judith Ann Liffick and Claudia Jo Davis. She also left behind one son-in-law, the Rev. Ralph Davis; six grandchildren; one grandson, Michael P. Davis (deceased); granddaughters, Karen Fisher, Kathy Tracy, Mary Jo Vandeventer, Bonny Reed, and Paula Botta; 13 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years; six sisters; five brothers; one grandson; and one son-in-law, Clyde Liffick.

Gladys had a love for the Lord her whole life and was saved when she was 15 years old. She dedicated her life to ministry first at Gospel Tabernacle, later Bethel Apostolic Church, and finally Christ Temple. She had a love for God’s Word. She consistently spent time reading her Bible, and her knowledge of Scriptures was well known.

She loved her family and friends. For most of her life she enjoyed cooking for others and being hospitable in her home or at church dinners and/or functions. Her homemade noodles were one of her specialties. Church and family were her greatest joys. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation was Sunday, May 5, 2013, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive and from 11 a.m. until service time today. Funeral services will be today, May 6, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Davis officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at:
