Norman Lee Conatser

TERRE HAUTE — Norman Lee Conatser, 76, of Terre Haute, passed away, in Union Hospital, on March 25, 2013, at 11:41 p.m. He was born in Terre Haute on June 2, 1936, to Robert and Marie (Sandberg) Conatser. Norman retired from the Terre Haute Fire Department after 20 years of service in 1978, as assistant fire chief.

He was a member of the Indiana Firefighters Association, Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Indiana Licensed Beverage Association. Norman attended and was a member of Terre Haute Seventh-Day Adventist Church; he served as a greeter. He was the owner of Lee’s Satellite Sales and Service, and Lee’s Satellite Tavern. Norman was a people person, who considered everyone his friend. He loved to garden, especially with the help of his daughter Bobbi and her husband Pat.

Norman is preceded in death by his parents; half brother, Robert Luther Jr.; half sister, Anita Oxendine; and his former wife and mother of his children, Phyllis (Egan) Conatser.  

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bonnie (Jenkins) Conatser; children, Dennis Conatser and wife Dawn of Fort Wayne, Cheryl Clements and husband Mike, Roberta “Bobbi” McBroom and husband Pat, all of Terre Haute; stepchildren, Julie Cain and husband Clay, David Jenkins, Alan Jenkins, Ronnie Jenkins and wife Yvonne, Patricia Johnson and husband Sid; grandchildren, Robert Arnold, Tim Arnold and wife Dawn, Ryan Arnold and wife Jackie, Myden Conatser and fiancé Paul Fouts, Amber Zimmerman and husband Ryan, Kristy Adams and husband Andy, Michael Tarwater, and Dusty Tarwater; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Conatser and wife Barb, Ronnie Conatser and wife Sylvia; sisters, Wanda Hackett and husband Willard, Glenna Wrestler and her significant other George; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are today, March 28, 2013, in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, at 7 p.m. Pastor Ernie Peckham will be officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 4 p.m. until services time. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice, especially for world hunger relief. Online condolences can be made at:
