Bobbie Jo Hammond, 47, of Terre Haute, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Bobbie Jo was born in Terre Haute on May 3, 1965, the daughter of Charles and Betty (Stranahan) Myers. She was a food preparer at Steak and Shake. Bobbie Jo was an avid reader, loved walking her dogs, enjoyed Zumba and playing Bunco. She also loved babysitting for her nieces, nephews and the neighborhood children
She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Helen and John Stranahan; paternal grandparents, James and Opal Myers; stepgrandfather, Burt Webb; and brother, Paul Wayne Myers.
Bobbie Jo is survived by her loving husband, Richard A. Hammond Sr.; devoted son, Richard A. Hammond Jr. (fiancee Teasa A. McBrayer) of Terre Haute; siblings, Jean (Richard) Crumrin of Stinesville, Shirley (Bill) Hadden of West Terre Haute, William King Jr. of Indianapolis, Mary (Augustus) Scank of Terre Haute, Alace Fagg of Terre Haute, Charles King of Bedford, Jim (Lisa) King, Fred (Jane) Archer of Jasonville, and Bob (Sarah) Rogers of Terre Haute; many special friends and her dogs Lucy and Daisy.
A Celebration of life will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at Journey Christian Fellowship, 1313 Lafayette Ave. with the Rev. Ric May officiating. Donations may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society 1811 S. Fruitridge Ave.,. Terre Haute, IN 47803; or Terre Haute Relay for life through the American Cancer Society at http://www.relayforlife.org
