Jerry A. Hart

PATRICKSBURG — Jerry A. Hart, 79, of Patricksburg, passed away on June 15, 2014, at his home with his family by his side. Jerry was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Coal City, the son of the late Delbert L. and Geneva (Beatty) Hart. He was a member of the Patricksburg High School graduating class of 1953. Jerry worked as a machinist. Some of the places he worked for were Rostone in Spencer, Twiggs in Martinsville, and Wilson Tek in Brazil, amongst other places. He married the love of his life Loretta Jean Humble on July 10, 1955.

Jerry was a member of Patricksburg Community Volunteer Fire Department for 35 plus years, where he served as Past Fire Chief. He was a 47-year-member of Knights of Pythias Lodge 253. He also was a member of Shakamak Bass Masters of Indiana and Tournament Director with USA Bassin. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially tournament fishing. More recently, Jerry has been attending Bible study class with Pleasant Hill Ministry.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Hart; and brothers, Dean A. Hart and Stanley V. Hart.

He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Loretta J. Hart; sons, Barry (Judy) Hart and Ken (Lori) Hart; grandchildren, Kendra Hart, Jerry A. Hart, Delbert A. Hart, and Johnathan A. Hart; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Leslie, Haven, Isiah, Landon, Morgan, Samantha, Maci, Wyatt; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Services will be Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Patricksburg Community Volunteer Fire Department, 10058 Marion St. Patricksburg, with Pastors Adam Fox and Steve Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Patricksburg Cemetery. Visitation will be today, June 17, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th St, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278 or Patricksburge Community Volunteer Fire Department. Visit to light a candle in his remembrance.
