TERRE HAUTE —
Michael David Robertson “Rocky,” 63, passed away in his home on Friday, May 3, 2013. He was born in Los Angeles, on Jan. 2, 1950, to Dr. Robert Robertson and Kathryn Robertson.
He and his family moved to Terre Haute in 1966, and he graduated with the Class of ’68 from Wiley High School, where he was a standout in both basketball and track. He went to Hanover College on a basketball scholarship. His love of theater took him to many large cities, performing in off-Broadway productions and at one time having a role on the TV series “Dallas.” He subsequently graduated from Indiana State University with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in theater and was a graduate assistant.
Michael was an accomplished carpenter, avid reader and sports enthusiast, but a terrible golfer. He loved music and classic movies and could quote many noted poets and authors in his booming voice. He was involved in many productions at Terre Haute’s Community Theatre. Many locals may remember him as a regular at Sonka’s or Charlie’s.
Survivors include his sisters, Susan Salamo (Fiatala) of Marion, and Anne Brown (Larry) of Tallmadge, Ohio; his brother, Doug Robertson (Cindy) of Toledo, Ohio. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Serafina and Fiatala Salamo, Cole and Bryce Robertson, and Emily and Christopher Brown.
Per his request, cremation was chosen. A private ceremony will be held to distribute his ashes at one of his favorite places, the home of his closest friends.
