Germaine Bertha Delaise


TERRE HAUTE — Germaine Bertha Delaise, 94, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Meadows Manor North. She was born Oct. 13, 1918, in France, to Paul and Emma Roberts. She married Adolph Delaise Jr., on June 8, 1946, and together they raised two children. Germaine worked for Quaker Maid and as a housekeeper at Indiana State University. She was a devoted housewife and mother. She was a member of the Post Office Auxiliary and the former St. Leonard’s Catholic Church. She will always be remembered for her warm smile and her friendly greeting of a hug and a kiss.  Germaine was an excellent cook, and her love could be seen in the food she prepared.

Germaine is survived by her children, Janet Stafford and husband Jerry of Marshall, Ill., and Robert Delaise of San Antonio; grandchildren, Robin Adams and husband Joel, Bridgett Doll and husband Christopher, Kimberly Lalouche and husband Robert, Angel Wineinger and husband Jeff, Tony Haymaker and wife Sherri, Brandy Delaise, and Paul Delaise and wife Dahlia; 18 great-grandchildren and one on the way; eight great-great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.

Germaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adolph; a brother, Charles Roberts; and a sister, Pauline Nisbet.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be led by Father Rick Ginther at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at:
