Grace Eleanor Branam

TERRE HAUTE — Grace Eleanor Branam, 102, of Terre Haute, passed into the arms of her Savior and waiting loved ones at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2013, surrounded by family.

She was born to Herbert Inglert and Juanita Pence Inglert on May 5, 1911 in Terre Haute. She married Everett Branam on June 17, 1929, but she was widowed after 38 years on June 22, 1967. Grace and Everett reared six children.

Grace cooked and ran the Majestic Café at North Terre Haute for three years. She retired from the Vigo County Recorder’s Office after 20 years to enjoy traveling, reading, crossword puzzles and long chats with family and friends. Grace embraced life and savored every moment because she willfully focused on the positive promise each day offered.

Grace is survived by two children, Everett S. Branam, Jr. and wife Beverly, and Ruth Ann Branam Dougherty (Patrick, deceased); and daughter-in-law, Juanita Branam (Ted). Awaiting her arrival in Heaven are sons, Ted and Tom; and daughters, Mary Phyllis Branam Koos (Stephen) and Shirley Lynn Branam.

Grace is leaving two loving sisters, Wilma Inglert and Jeannine Hoke. Ten siblings preceded her in death, Alice (George) Newkirk, Wilbur (Kathleen) Inglert, Ruth (Herchel) Bouillez, Ester (Lester) Sampson, Herbert (Hettie) Inglert, Albert (Flo) Inglert, John Ed (Julia) Inglert, Ann Inglert, Max Inglert and Phil Inglert.

Grace delighted in her extended family: Everett’s three, Laura Branam (three children and three grandchildren, Kim and Lon McDonald (two children and four grandchildren), and Matthew, deceased, (three children); Ted and Juanita’s nine children, 31 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great-grandchildren: Shirley and Charles Gaston (six children), Jan and Bill Brock (three children), Barbara and Dennis Davis (four children), Ted Jr. (three children), Joe and Karen (five children), Brad and Jan (four children), Jim and Kelly (two children), Josh and Jennifer (four children), and Lori Ann (deceased); Mary Phyllis’s three, Stephenna and Tim Nichols (three children), Steve and Jill (two children), Scott and Maria (three children); RuthAnn’s three, Sean, Michael (two children), Bridget and Brian Kelsheimer (two children); Tommy’s step-daughter, Barbara (one child); along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral services will be hosted by North Terre Haute Christian Church. The family requests that friends join them for visitation from 4 to 8 on Thursday, May 23. Grace’s life and celebration of faith will be led by the Rev. Bill Brock, assisted by the Rev. Dennis Davis and the Rev. Charles Gaston at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 24 at the same location. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Special thanks to Dr. V. Reddy and associates at Illiana Internal Medicine, Hospice of the Wabash Valley, caregiver Heidi Dollahan, Brook Bogarth RN, and Martha Cottrell. Online condolences may be expressed at:
