Julius Joseph Stepanski

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Julius Joseph Stepanski, 85, of Scottsdale, passed away May 8, 2013, in his home surrounded by his wife and children. Joe was born Jan. 13, 1938, in Chicago, to Julius and Stella Stepanski. Joe joined the U.S. Coast Guard at age 17. After serving in the military, he attended De Paul University on the GI Bill. He majored in pre-law, later changing his major and graduating with a degree in accounting. Joe moved to Scottsdale in 1970, and started his own company, Service & Sales, Inc. He did business with the former Tri-Industries in Terre Haute. He retired in 1993 leaving the presidency to his son, Guy Stepanski.

During his leisure time he and his wife, Janice, traveled the world. One of the trips he spoke of often was their trip to Poland, the birthplace of his father. One of the most difficult times in his life was the death of his son, Guy Stepanski. He also was  preceded in death by his parents; stepbrothers and sisters, Larry, Stasia, Richard and Ann; and his great-grandson, Connor Michael Newton.

Joe will be remembered lovingly by his wife, Janice Stepanski; his children, Sharon Phillips (Jim), Janet Walker (Bob), Karen Stepanski (Chris), Joseph Stepanski (Kathy), Tammy Fryer, and David Stepanski, all of Scottsdale, and Jeff Stepanski (Lance Seltzer) of Carson City, Nev.; his stepchildren, Michelle Decker of Terre Haute, and Michael Busenburg (Debra) of French Lick; 16 grandchildren, including Breanne Newton (Jan) of New Goshen, and Caitlin Frederick (Matt) of Terre Haute, Brian Busenburg (Sara) of Linton, and Jack Busenburg of Bloomington; and 10 great-grandchildren, including Adilynn Newton of New Goshen, and Alexis and Bo Busenburg of Linton.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. MST at Hansen Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the West, 21410 N. 19th Ave., Phoenix, Arizona 85027.
