Charles T. Bearley, 79, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 in his residence, surrounded by his family.
Charles was born June 25, 1933 in Terre Haute to John and Thelma Hires Bearley.
Charles worked many years for the Montgomery Ward Department Store and was a long time member of the Southside Church of the Nazarene, as well as a member of the Civil Defense Organization. He was a very hard worker, often times holding two, maybe even three, jobs at one time. Charles even spent many years as a Sunday school teacher at various churches in the area. Most of all, Charles was a family man. He enjoyed spending time with each one of his 12 children.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Charles Bearley Jr., and twin boys, Garry and Jerry Bearley; and many brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elzenia Burton Bearley; five sons, Mark, Steve, John, Daniel and Manuel Bearley; four daughters, Brenda Brossman, Linda Potter, Lou Bearley and Helen Collier and her husband Larry; one brother, John Bearley and his wife Lynda; and one sister, Mary Williams. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other friends, family and loved ones.
Funeral service for Charles will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Southside Church of the Nazarene, 1901 S. Fourth St., Terre Haute, with Pastor Bob Cown officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday. Greiner Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at:
