Mary Louise Hall Plascak

TERRE HAUTE — Mary L. Plascak, 93, left this Earth on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2013, to join her family in heaven. Mary was born Nov. 27, 1919, to Herbert Hall and Daisy Ring Hall.

She joins in heaven her mother and father; her loving husband of 65 years, Nicholas Plascak; her sister, Alice Hall Nichols; her son, Thomas L. Plascak; niece, Marsha Nichols Hauser; and great-grandson, Cameron James Plascak.

Mary graduated from Wiley High School in 1936. She became a devoted military wife and spent many years moving from one area of the world to another while her husband pursued his career in the Air Force. Mary was a loving and adoring mother to four children. She spent her life always caring for her children’s needs, and raising them in a loving home.

Mary was a faithful person to God. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ and continued to receive God’s word from Abe Miller at services held at Sycamore Manor. She was a lifelong member of the Women’s Department Club. She also belonged to the Fort Harrison Chapter of DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century.

Mary was never an idle person. She was always socially active in the community. She enjoyed quilting and made numerous quilts for her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and preferred challenging historical pieces of literature. Her extensive reading instilled in her a wealth of knowledge. Later in life she and her husband joined many of their lifelong friends and did extensive traveling to foreign countries. She had seen many areas of the world in her 93 years of life.

Mary is survived by three of her four children, Dr. Nicholas David Plascak of Bluffton, S.C., Paula M. Walker and husband Dave of Terre Haute, Dr. John F. Plascak and wife Vicki of Lafayette, and daughter-in-law Gloria Plascak of Terre Haute. Loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren, Patricia Tallman and husband Jeremy of Indianapolis, Cynthia Hallberg and husband Scott of Indianapolis, Jennifer Schumaker and husband Don of Terre Haute, Angela Harris and husband Dave of Clinton, Alicia Nellans and husband Scot of Lafayette, Leanne Wilkie and husband Scott of Killeen Texas, Melissa Bozack and husband John of Terre Haute, Eric Plascak and wife Lauren of Terre Haute, Elizabeth Plascak, and Jay Plascak.

Her loving grandchildren also blessed her with 11 great-grandchildren, Carter and Alice Tallman, Mason and Ian Wiltermood, Gavin and Abigail Schumaker, Caden and Cameron Plascak, Caleb and Keaton Nellans, and Lillian Bozack. Her family also included several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mary will be sadly missed by all who’s lives she touched, including her many friends at Sycamore Manor.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to services at Roselawn Funeral Home, with Pastor Abe Miller officiating. Visitation also will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park.
