James Lee Lankford, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away on May 11, 2013, at 7:10 p.m. He was born Oct. 19, 1919, to Jess Lankford and Viola Loveall Lankford. James served in the U.S. Army during World War II, as a paratrooper. He enjoyed his dogs and his cats.
James is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Bettie” Bryant Lankford; son, Mitchell Lankford and wife Glenda; daughter, Sharon Voorhees; stepdaughter, Diana Ramey; grandchildren, Robert Lankford, Terry Lankford, Don Lankford, Bobby Lankford, Wayne Cottrell, Debbie Faris, Rick Lewis, and Randy Lewis; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Brittany, Ashley, Terri Lea, Donny, Laurie, Shannon, Shyanna, Stephanie, Wesley, Karley, and Austin; and four great-great-grandchildren, Alex, Kinley, Macy, and Kolton. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmy Lankford; sister, Betty Mae Meneely; and great-grandson, Tony Lankford.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 2 p.m., in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until service time. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
