MARSHALL, Ill. —
MARSHALL, Ill. — Eddie P. Cantrell, 72, of Marshall, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the home of a son at Fishers, Ind., following an extended illness. He was the retired manager of Neal Tire and Battery of Marshall. He had previously been employed at Parker Motor Supply and had been the operator of the Western Auto Store of Marshall. He was born March 19, 1941, at Sweetwater, Tenn., the son of Charles and Mary Thompson Cantrell. He married Martha A. “Martie” Noyes on March 19, 1965, in Marshall, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2009.
Surviving are two sons, Derek Cantrell and wife Amy of Fishers, and Brett Cantrell and his girlfriend Joey Adams of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Adrian Cantrell, Katie Cantrell, Ethan Cantrell and Graham Cantrell; a sister, Lillian Gaby of Cleveland, Tenn.; and two brothers, Donnie Cantrell of Madisonville, Tenn., and Terry Cantrell of Englewood, Tenn. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bernie Cantrell.
He served this country in the U.S. Navy, on the USS Nitro during the Cuban Missile Crisis and also served much time in the Mediterranean. He was a member of Clark County American Legion Post 90, was active in many civic organizations and projects, he had been a member of the Marshall Chamber of Commerce and Marshall Lions Club.
Services in honor of his life will be 10 a.m. CDT Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial will be at Marshall Cemetery, with graveside military rites in honor of his service to this nation by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975 and American Legion Post 90. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and prior to services on Saturday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
