Margaret Ann Stockwell, 77, of Bowling Green, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at IU Health in Bloomington. She was born April 29, 1935, in Montgomery County, to Kenneth and Harriet (Fulk) Hendershot. She was a 1953 graduate of Spencer High School. She retired as supervisor of data processing for Public Service Indiana, in Plainfield, before moving to Owen County, where she and her husband owned and operated Beamer Produce from 1993 to 1999.
Margaret was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Plainfield; and since moving to Owen County, was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Terre Haute. She was a member of the Plainfield Chapter of Tri-Kappa, Plainfield Jay-shes, and a dedicated supporter of the Junior Miss Program. After moving to Bowling Green, she was active in the Owen County Republican Party. Margaret loved entertaining, especially children, and was like an extra grandmother to every kid who ever knew her.
Mrs. Stockwell is survived by her husband of 58 years, Byron Allen Stockwell; sister, Mary Jo Hendershot and brother-in-law, Marcus Creech of Bowling Green; and sister-in-law, Barbara Hendershot of Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Daniel Hendershot; and a sister, Rachel Hendershot-Dayhuff.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 215 N. 7th St., in Terre Haute. The Rev. Mary Slenski will officiate. Burial will follow at Mabley Garden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are with West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, in Spencer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church for Mabley Garden. Online condolences may be made to the family at:
