Richard Allen Hensley

TERRE HAUTE — Richard Allen Hensley, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, in Meadows Manor East Nursing Home.

Richard was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Terre Haute. He was a retired truck driver, as well as a veteran of the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, as well as the V.F.W. in Terre Haute. He enjoyed baseball, especially watching the St. Louis Cardinals play whenever he could. He was also an avid race fan, enjoying the horse races whenever possible.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Claudia, Horatio, Jim and Red; one grandson, Brian Hensley; one step-grandson, Michael Burch; and two sons, Michael and Jerry Hensley.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hensley; two sons, Tim Hensley and his wife Sherry and Todd Hensley, all of Terre Haute; one daughter, Roxanne Hensley of Indianapolis; five step-daughters, Suzanne Greenwell and Del Barnes of New Orleans, and Mary Hoopengarner, Linda Hoopengarner, Paula Bland, and Jeanette Ditto, all of Terre Haute; one brother, Newt Hensley and his wife Irene of Brownsburg; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loved ones.

As were Richard’s wishes, cremation has been chosen with no services to take place. Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., was entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at:
