Burton Donald “Don” Rowlett, 88, of Terre Haute, died Friday, February 8, 2013. He was born May 4, 1924, in Middlesboro, KY, to Donald and Edith Rowlett. Burton retired from General Housewares as Shipping Foreman after 38 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Frances Rowlett; one son, David Alan Rowlett and his wife Denise of Terre Haute; four grandchildren including Andrea Rowlett and Kristen Rowlett; the mother of Andrea and Kristen, Becky Rowlett; and two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Ayden. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Wayne Rowlett and Stephen Isaac Rowlett.
Burton was a World War II Navy Veteran serving on the USS Boggs. While on the ship he won the middle weight boxing title. Burton was a 50 year member of Humbolt Lodge # 42 F & AM. He was a Little League Baseball Coach in the late 60’s and early 70’s taking teams to the Little League World Series. Burton was an avid sports fan and loved to bowl. The family would like to thank the staff of the 300 hall at Springhill Village for their comfort and care.
There will be no services or visitation. Inurnment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
