MARSHALL, Ill. —
Howard Eugene “Gene” Wichman, 51, of Marshall, passed away at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, in Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis, where he had been admitted the previous day. At the time of his death he was awaiting surgery. He was born Sept., 4, 1961, in Terre Haute, Ind., the son of Richard and Sharon Stout Wichman.
He attended and graduated from Marshall High School and served in the U.S. Navy after graduation. His career was in the roofing business until his heart became too dysfunctional for heavy work. He tried factory work, but due to his heart problems, he was unable to continue. He was until recently working at the Marshall Advocate, which he loved and was so proud that he found a job that his disability would allow him to do.
Surviving is his daughter, Jacklyn Marie Wichman, who was the love of his life; his parents; sisters, Debra (Ray) Eggers of Marshall, Melissa Burton of Terre Haute, and Ramona (Brian) Owens of Casey; nieces and nephews, Melanie Stout, Nathaniel Dylan Goodman, Elizabeth Leann Burton, Cloe Lynette Daugherty and Jacob Levi Daugherty; a special great-nephew, Dakoda Ray, the son of Melanie and Dennis Stout; uncles, Ted Stout, Richard Stout and Terry (Cindy) Stout; and many other relatives and friends who all loved him and will miss him dearly.
Services in honor of his life will be 10 a.m. CST Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., in Marshall, with Brother Paul Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Livingston Cemetery, with graveside military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975 and Clark County American Legion Post 90. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
