Jean Elizabeth Cuvelier, 91, of Terre Haute, passed away at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, in Union Hospital. She was born in Genesee, Pa., on Sept. 30, 1921, to Clayton W. Baldwin and Minnie Ira Sloan Baldwin.
Jean is survived by eight children, Mary Albertsman and husband Bernie, Barbara Wells and husband Charles, Bette La Plante and husband Brooks, Beverly Bensky and husband Norman, Clayton Cuvelier and wife Debra, Diane Cuvelier, Donald Cuvelier and wife Julie, and Richard Cuvelier and wife Helen. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Cuvelier; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Elsworth Cuvelier; as well as 12 brothers and sisters.
Jean was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, and volunteered at the 14th & Chestnut Food Pantry—Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard. While living in Orlando, Fla., Jean also volunteered with “The Shepherds,” a Church group who fed the homeless in the greater Orlando area. In addition, Jean was a member of the Shady Ladies group at the Shady Oaks Retirement Village.
Funeral services will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at 3 p.m., with Pastor Aaron Wheaton officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, from 1 to 3 p.m. Burial will be in White Haven Memorial Cemetery in Fairport, N.Y., on Monday, July 1, 2013.
