Bessie Marie Hodge

MARSHALL, Ill. — MARSHALL, Ill. — Bessie Marie Hodge, 72, of Camdenton, Mo., formerly of Marshall, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, in Memorial Specialty Hospital, in Lufkin, Texas. She was born July 29, 1941, in Marshall, the daughter of Albert Carpenter Sr. and Laura M. Birchfield Carpenter.

Surviving are her soul mate, Jim Redman of Camdenton; her children, Leanna Lynn Oster (significant other – Warren Ryan) of West Alton, Mo., David (Alta) Stockton of Bourbon, Mo., and Lori (Ben) Falls of Ash Fork, Ariz.; the children of Jim Redman, Brian (Jackie) Redman of Demorest, Ga., and Eric (Amanda) Redman of Camdenton; a brother, Albert “Jake” (Sharon) Carpenter of Dennison; grandchildren, T.J., Amanda, David Jr., Crystal and Sean; the grandchildren of Jim Redman, Caleb and Myles; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, and McKenna; a stepdaughter, Sandra Hodge-Minton of St. Charles, Mo.; a niece and a nephew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce; a husband, Al Hodge; and a stepson, Mike Hodge.

She was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Eagles Auxiliary at St. Charles, and was a 1959 graduate of Marshall High School. Bessie loved to cook for others and she especially loved her family. She loved to travel and had homes in the Lake of the Ozarks, Texico, Ill., and Milam, Texas. She was a true and loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Services in honor and respect to her life will be 11 a.m. CST Saturday, at Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial will be in Livingston Cemetery, rural Marshall. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, and prior to services Saturday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Hunting With Soldiers, P.O. Box 230, Paducah, TX 79248.
