CENTER POINT — Herman Carl Koehler Jr., 82, passed away with his family at his side, Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, after a short illness. He was born in Center Point, on Aug. 21, 1930, to Herman and Ruth Koehler.
Carl was a 1948 graduate of Brazil High School and a 1956 graduate of Purdue University. He was a loving husband and father, served his country in the United States Air Force, was a member of the Brazil Concert Band for over 20 years, and was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, where he played the organ for over 25 years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Patricia McCloud Koehler of Center Point; sons, Bill (Elaine) Koehler of Terre Haute and Larry (Carol) Koehler of Center Point; daughters, Kathy (Jay) Weddle and Susie (David) Kingery, all of Brazil; brother, Chris (Shirley) Koehler of Center Point; brother-in-law, Joel (Helen) McCloud of Clayton, Ind.; grandchildren, Curt Koehler, Larissa (Josh) Scott, Kelsey (Joe) Clement, Jill (Jake) Bennett, Rebekah (Alfred) Medina, Josiah Koehler, Brian (Jenny) Thompson, Tracy Thompson, David (Amy) Kingery, and Heather (Cole) Kingery; great-grandchildren, Grace, Avery and Jude Scott, Stuart and Wyatt Bennett, Ethan Doyle; and several nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at St. John’s United Church of Christ with the Revs. Bill Koehler and Franklin Haines officiating, with burial to follow in St. Johns Cemetery. The family will accept friends on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 142 N. Washington St., in Brazil. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ.
