Elva Ann Lybarger

CONROE, Texas — Elva Ann Lybarger, passed away at the age of 93, at Park Manor Skilled Nursing Facility in Conroe, at 1 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013. Elva was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Paris, Ill., to Ruth Elizabeth Cornwell Compton and Otho Winnie Compton.

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Ruth Cornwell Compton, and Dad, Otho Compton; her husband of 74 years, Richard Frederick Lybarger; her brothers, William Compton and Wendell Compton; sisters, Ruth Francis Compton Brocklehurst, Betty Lou Compton Hoffman, and Margaret (Peggy) Compton Wilson. Elva is survived by her children and spouses, Herschel Lybarger and wife Anna, Sharon Huette and husband Robert, and Sally Carwile and husband Henry; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Elva Ann will be Tuesday evening at Cashner Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m.. Services are Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in the Cashner Colonial Chapel. She will be laid to rest in Garden Park Mausoleum at the side of her beloved husband.

Ann worked several different sales jobs in her life, including J.C. Penney, Co., Stanley Home Products, etc. She loved church and was very involved in teaching the young people. She had a knack for creating fun, such as taffy pulls, camping trips, etc. There was always a party when she was involved. She taught a bible study class every summer for under privileged children. If Ann, Mom, or Grandma was in the room, there was laughter. The love of her life, Richard Lybarger passed away June 8, 2013.

Her family would like to acknowledge the following for her care over the years and the past few months and weeks: Dr. Glen Berwick who guided her health over the years, Dr. Sandra Gomez, Paliative Care Physician and Dr. Cynthia Zinner.
