DENNISON, Ill. — John Owen Donham Sr., 89, of Dennison, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2013. He retired as a bricklayer from the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Union in Terre Haute. He was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Vigo County, Ind., to Horace A. Donham and Ruby Pearl Hunter Donham.
His wife, Julia Ilene Cox Donham, whom he married on Aug. 10, 1959, preceded him in death 13 years ago. He is survived by her children whom he dearly loved, two sons, John Owen Donham Jr. and his wife Tammy and Charles Allen Donham and his wife Marrianne; three daughters, Pamela K. Woolley and her husband Greg, Patricia Lynn Allen and her husband Rick, and Tina Marie Wilson and her husband Doug; a brother, Stanley Donham; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved him dearly. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and three sisters.
He served his country during World War II being a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended the Patton United Methodist Church in Dennison. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services for John will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Dan Garner officiating and military rites by the Vigo County Veterans Honorguard. Visitation is noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Cremation has been scheduled after services. Burial of his ashes will be at a later date in Dunlap Cemetery.
