STAUNTON — Anna Lee (Elwell) Hoffman, 90, formerly of Staunton, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Community Hospital South, in Indianapolis, with her family by her side. Anna was born Feb. 15, 1923, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mae (Bean) Elwell. Anna graduated from Riley High School in 1941. She married the love of her life, the late Russell Hoffman on Oct. 18, 1943.
Anna was a member of First Christian Church of Staunton. During World War II, she worked at the Coca Cola Bottling Plant in Terre Haute. Later in life she worked part time at Staunton School cafeteria.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting. Her greatest pride was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with the many adventures she shared with her best friend, Lela (Minor) Staley. They were commonly referred to as Lucy and Ethel by all who knew them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Hoffman; her parents, Joseph and Mae Elwell; son, James Hoffman; grandson, William Hoffman; brothers, Walter Elwell and James Elwell; and sisters, Minaughn Ferran and Helen Smith
Anna is survived by her daughter, Barbara Overton and husband William; daughter-in-law, Violet Hoffman; grandsons, Craig Hoffman and wife Stacy and Donald Hoffman and wife Jennifer; granddaughters, Vicky Ostendorf and husband Randy, Holli Gonzalez and husband Abel, and Kristen Williams; great-grandchildren, Brent, Jessica, Michael, Amanda, Heather, Abigale, Michelle, Sam, Olivia, William, and Rebekah; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Service will be Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 2 p.m. at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., in Brazil, with Pastor Charlie Paxton officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
