Jerry Lee Berkley Sr., 59, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 12 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Union Hospital, in Terre Haute. He was a retired railroader having retired from CSX Railroad Co., where he was known by his co-workers as “Weasil.” He was currently employed as a truck driver with Sysco Foods, in Indianapolis. He was born Jan. 28, 1954, in Terre Haute, to Thomas Matthew Berkley and Hazel Irene James Berkley.
Survivors include his cherished wife of 35 years, Sandra Sue Silvers Berkley, whom he married Sept. 22, 1978, in Terre Haute; their children, Jerry “Berk” Berkley Jr., Sandra “Sissy” Berkley, Michelle Stanley, Teddy Elleman, and Billy Elleman; 10 grandchildren, Matty, Tessa, D.J., Bryanna, Kylie, Kayla, Nikki, Daisy, Shelby, Billie Jo, and one due in July is Lillian Grace “Little Britches”; four great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Sharon Berkley; a sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Jerry Lehman; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Jerry Stamper, and Penny and Phillip Lesley; his best friends, Dan Brown and Tony Pulec; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carolyn Baeiszadeh; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, William and Ada Silvers.
He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, boating, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Funeral services for Jerry will be at 11 a.m. today in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeffrey Harpole and Brother Merrill Weir officiating. Cremation has been scheduled following all services. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time.
