Mrs. Ripple, 88, of Greenville, S.C., passed away April 14, 2013, in the Health Care Center at Rolling Green Village. She was born in Terre Haute, retired with her husband Ivan to Lake Hartwell in S.C., and later moved to Greenville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Mrs. Ripple is survived by her two sons, Randy and wife Louise of Charlotte, N.C., and Brad and fiancée Ann Marie Brown, of Elberton, Ga.; four grandchildren, Jim Ripple (Ashley), Katie O'Gwin (Tate), Martha Ripple, and Mary Ripple; a brother, Kermit Ward; four nieces; and a great-grandson, Luke O'Gwin. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Ivan; as well as her parents, Wayne W. and Olive L. Ward.
She graduated from Wiley High School and soon afterwards married Ivan. After he completed his tour of duty in the U.S. Army, they returned to Terre Haute. In 1957, they moved to Fremont, Mich., and subsequently Rochester, N.Y., and Asheville, N.C., before returning to Michigan. Martha was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother to her sons. She had many hobbies, including bridge, golf, baking, sewing and quilting. She and Ivan loved to travel as they spent the first two years of their retirement crisscrossing the country while living in a travel trailer. She was a member of the Mauldin United Methodist Church, volunteered wherever she lived and could always be counted on to help a friend in need.
A memorial service will be held on April 20, 2013, at 1 p.m., in the Center at Rolling Green Village, in Greenville. The family will have an interment service at a later date.
