TERRE HAUTE —
Maurine Rukes, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at her residence with her family at her side. Maurine was born July 31, 1928, in Clinton, to Herbert and Vivian Anstead.
She was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship of Crosslane Community Church. She loved her flowers and birds, especially red birds. She was a very talented artist and poet, and she loved to do crafts.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Myron Rukes; two daughters, Pam Williams and husband Joe, and Sherri Sullivan, all of Terre Haute; one son, Brad Rukes and wife Ruth of Rosedale; three grandchildren, Matt Sullivan, Andy Williams and wife Jessica, and Kristi Barnaby and husband Erik; great-grandchildren, Lane Sullivan, Alexandria Seay, Kami Williams, Stella Barnaby, and Collin Williams; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Maxine, Murl and Myrna; and one brother, Wayne.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Crosslane Community Church, with visitation Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. The Revs. Brett Wilson and Bill Grandi will be officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences can be made at:
