Robert Kent Zwerner

TERRE HAUTE — Robert Kent Zwerner passed away in Tampa, Fla., on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Robert was born on Oct. 3, 1943, to Paul and Martha (Sowers) Zwerner, in Terre Haute. Robert was married to Janet Leigh (Boyd) Zwerner for 18 years before her passing in 1995.

Robert earned his M.D. and Ph.D. and became a Bio Tech Scientist for medical research and retired with over 20 years of service in the scientific community. He loved gaining knowledge through reading and sharing his wisdom with others. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Robert is survived by four children, Jennifer Leigh Nugent of Shelby, Ala., Lori Elizabeth Zwerner of Valrico, Fla., Haley Lynn (Jason) Green of Brandon, Fla., and Russell Kent Zwerner of Valrico; four grandchildren, Miranda Nugent, Ty Nugent, Brady Green, and Justin Green; two brothers, Paul (Jan) Zwerner and William (Diana) Zwerner, all of Terre Haute; and a sister, Ann (John) Caldwell of Terre Haute.

He was preceded in death by his wife; and parents.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. following the visitation; Pastor Kyle Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
