Iva L. Meng

SULLIVAN — Iva L. Meng, 95, of Sullivan, went to Heaven peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, surrounded by her loved ones at her residence. She was born on Dec. 11, 1918, in Sullivan County, Ind., to Freeman B. Clark and Louie G. (Gibbs) Clark. Iva became the wife of Edgar Lee Meng on Feb. 18, 1937, and they were happily married for 43 years.

Iva was a member of the Soul’s Harbor Church in Shelburn. She was a homemaker and a wallpaper hanger. Iva loved to travel at a moment’s notice and playing Skipbo with anyone and everyone. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her two sons, Edgar ‘Gene’ (Josephine) Meng of Sullivan and William “Bill” (Judy) Meng of Terre Haute; two daughters, Patricia Christison of Spencer and Carolyn Maxey of Sullivan; one brother, George (Gayle) Clark of Sullivan; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar, June 5, 1980; one son, James Meng; three grandchildren, Lonnie Krause, Angel Dawn and Rochelle Renee’ Maxey; two brothers, Wesley and Gene Clark; and two sisters, Hazel Wolfe and twin sister, Ina Hancock.

Funeral services will be at Soul’s Harbor Church, 7217 U.S. Highway 41 North, in Shelburn, on Monday, May 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Darren Thrasher officiating. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Carlisle. Family and friends may call at the church on Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 4 until 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The family has entrusted all arrangements to Anderson-Poindexter Dugger Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to:
