Peggy L. Osmon

TERRE HAUTE — Peggy L. Osmon, 64, of Terre Haute, was called home on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, with her family by her side. Peggy will be sadly and sorely missed by all of her family and friends, and will be remembered fondly for her sense of humor and dedication to her family. She was born in Terre Haute, to Jack and Irene (Bridgewater) Osmon, on July, 28,1949.

Peggy attended Garfield High School and graduated (at much relief to her family) with the class of 1967. She has been a lifelong Democrat, and was active for many years with the Vigo County Democratic Party. Peggy was very artistic, and for many years enjoyed painting and drawing. She loved antiquing, collecting Coca-Cola, Department 56 and anything Americana. She was quick witted and loved to laugh, and her family often laughed at her instead of with her. Cooking was not her strong suit, particularly noodles, which she was banned from bringing to holiday gatherings. Peggy worked for 32 years with the Vigo County Government. Peggy always had a smile for everyone, unless of course you are a Republican.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara; brother, Robert; and a very special brother-in-law, Waren L. Soules.

She is survived by one brother, Gary; and a sister, Suzanne Soules, who was not only her sister but her best friend. She leaves behind nephews, Thomas J. Soules and Michael W. Soules, both of Terre Haute; niece, Jodi L. Myers and husband Paul of Rosedale, all of whom she shared a very special relationship. Also great-nephews, Jacob M. Soules of Terre Haute and Reid D. Myers of Rosedale; and great-niece, Morgan G. Myers of Rosedale. She loved these children to pieces. Also nephews, Christopher Osmon of Terre Haute, and Mitchell Osmon and his wife Renae of Indianapolis; and niece, Sheila Spinoso of New Jersey.

She was a wonderful aunt who was always available for endless advice, a  sympathetic ear or bail money.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home with services at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. Larry Lilly. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Riley Children Hospital or St. Judes Children’s Hospital in memory of Peggy. Peggy, however, would ask that you gather with your friends, share a fond memory and a laugh. She also would want you to raise a toast in her honor, particularly with Diet Coke or Malibu Rum.
