BRAZIL — Everett L. Funk, 86, of Brazil, died at 7:15 p.m. March 4, 2014, at his residence. He was born May 18, 1927, in Bowling Green, Ind., the son of the late Roy and Esther (Brady) Funk. He graduated from Bowling Green High School, class of 1945. Everett served his country with the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He married the late Norma Wolford on Dec. 20, 1947. Everett worked as a security guard for Pinkerton’s most recently and Great Dane for 15 years.
Everett was a member of Benwood Mount Lebanon Church. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge 409, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1127, and American Legion Post 2. He enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and IU Basketball.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma Funk; son, Allen Funk; his parents; and brother, Wilbur Funk.
Everett is survived by his son, George Funk; sisters, Cristene Burch, Geneva Smith; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Services will be Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 1 p.m. at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., in Brazil, with the Rev. Dick McShanog officiating. Burial and military honors will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
