Lenora ‘Edith’ Greenwell

CASEY, Ill. — Lenora “Edith” Greenwell, 94, of Casey, passed away at 4:55 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. Edith was born on May 6, 1919, in rural Casey, to Jesse Erwin and Mary Alice (Spivey) Gross. She married Doyle S. Greenwell on Oct. 1, 1935 in rural Martinsville, Ill., at home. Edith was a homemaker, a mother, and an 80-year-member of The Casey White Oak Church.

She is survived by one son, James (Penny) Greenwell of Casey; three daughters, Charlotte June (Jack) Spraggins of Howell, Mich., Sharon Kay (Don) Juergens of Lakewood, Colo., and Della Ann (Ken) Headrick of Greeley, Colo.; one niece, Doris (Dean) Finney of Westfield, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Rodney (Evelyn) Spraggins, Rick (Joni) Juergens, Lisa Thornton, Susan (Ron) Tilton, Lori (Craig) Greenwell, Greg (Alyssa) Spraggins, Andrea Weiner, Jason (Lori) Juergens, Mike (Leslie) Spraggins, Lainie Headrick, and Kevin (Allie) Headrick; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Lee Gross; one sister, Mildred Beasley; and one grandson, James R. Greenwell.

 A visitation will be held Friday, June 28, 2013, from 9 to 11 a.m. CDT with funeral services following at 11 a.m. at Goodwin Family Funeral Home in Casey. Services will be officiated by the Rev. Gene Ellis. Burial will take place at Rupp Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mid-Illinois Big Brother Big Sister, 825 18th St., Charleston, IL 61920.
