BRAZIL — William “Bill” E. Barnett, 71, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital, in Indianapolis. He was born Feb. 1, 1942, in Vigo County, to Orville Barnett and Lucinda Fiscus Overhoff. Bill graduated from Gerstmeyer Tech and spent his career working as a welder and fabricator. He was an avid street rodder, a member of Lodge 86 Free & Accepted Masons, the Scottish Rite, Zorah Shrine, and served on fire crews for the Indianapolis 500, Terre Haute Action Track and the Indiana State Fair. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Richard “Dick” Barnett.
Survivors Include his wife, Kanova Kaye Quilliam Barnett; sons, William E. (Michelle) Barnett II, and Erick P. (Julia) Barnett, all of Brazil; brother, Orville “Bud” (Geraldine) Barnett of Clinton; sister, Maxine McMains of Terre Haute; sister-in-law, Cheryll (Michael) Stewart of Palm Coast, Fla.; five grandchildren with a sixth coming in November, William E. Barnett III, Erick P. Barnett II, Alyssia K. Barnett, Emma Reed, and Mark Reed Jr.; great-grandchildren, Cadel Steven Westfall and Corbin Lane Evans; nieces and nephews, David (Delinda) Barnett of El Reno, Okla., Michael (Jennifer) Barnett, of Monroe, La., Timothy (Mary Jo) Barnett of Terre Haute, Cindy Barnett of El Reno, Betsy Nevins of San Francisco, Robert Nevins Jr. of Big Cliffty, Ky., and Morgan Stewart of San Francisco; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home. The family will accept friends from 4 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Foundation. Online condolences may be expressed at:
