ROCKVILLE — Thomas M. Garrett, 89, of Rockville, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, in his residence. He retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company, working in Montezuma, Zionsville and Bluffton, all in Indiana, and Maumee, Ill. He was born Sept. 2, 1923, in Lupus, Mo., to the late William Jackson Garrett and Annie Lee Cheatham Garrett.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Alice Brehmeyer Garrett, whom he married Sept. 10, 1944, in California, Mo.; two sons, George William Garrett of Bloomington, and John T. Garrett of Rockville; one daughter, Barbara Ann Spunger of Jenks, Okla.; one sister, Marian Frances Woodruff of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
He was a graduate of Jamestown (Mo.) High School and a member of Bluffton (Ind.) First United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, in Memory Garden Cemetery, with the Rev. Don Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St. Friends may sign an online guest register at:
