Rose Clare Moore

TERRE HAUTE — Rose Clare Moore, 94, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Meadows Manor North, in Terre Haute, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She moved to Indiana in 2001, after living over 40 years in Claymont, Del. She was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Philadelphia, to William G. Wright and Anna M. Wright.

Rose attended Chestnut Hill College and Temple University, earning a bachelor of science degree in 1936. She taught high school science for several years before moving to Washington, D.C., to work in a government research lab during World War II. She returned to Philadelphia and married William (Bill) in 1950 and began a long career in the chemical industry before retiring from DuPont Textile Research Labs in 1983. She enjoyed volunteering in many ways, including working for the Christiana Hospital in Delaware, Meals on Wheels, and several Outreach Programs of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Claymont. She was always willing to help those in need and instilled in her sons the importance of service to others. She and Bill enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 U.S. states, all the Provinces and Territories in Canada and many European countries.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Moore; a sister, Helen M. Kuhn; as well as her parents. Survivors include her sons, Daniel (Jennifer) Moore, Terre Haute, and Patrick (Karen) Moore, Jupiter, Fla; grandchildren, Judith Moore, Hammond, Johanna (Andrew) Kruth, Austin, Texas, Jessamyn Moore, Bremen, Germany, Jacqueline Moore, Fulton, Mo., Danielle Howley-Moore, Jupiter, and Dylan Howley-Moore, Jupiter; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family members.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, Del. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Del. Visitation will be in the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (, Memphis, Tenn.  Online condolences may be expressed at Moore Funeral Home at ( in Brazil, and Doherty Funeral Home ( in Wilmington, Del.
